Specifically, it examines hadith numbers 401 to 410 found in al-Suyūṭī’s al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr fī Aḥādīth al-Bashīr al-Nadhīr, with the aim of identifying instances where al-Albānī’s assessments align with Al-Suyūṭī’s judgments. Methodologically, the research adopts an inductive approach to analyse the chosen hadith, followed by a comparative examination of their symbolic evaluations as presented in al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr and in al-Albānī’s two works, Ḍaʿīf al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr wa Ziyādatuhu and Ṣaḥīḥ al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr wa Ziyādatuhu. The findings reveal that al-Albānī’s rulings concur with al-Suyūṭī’s in eight of the ten examined hadith, diverging in only two instances. In light of these results, the study encourages scholarly institutions to undertake a comprehensive comparative analysis of all remaining hadith in al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr, thereby advancing the precision and reliability of future evaluations.
2024-12-01T00:00:00+08:00Copyright (c) 2024 Kabiru Goje, Forat Mustafahttps://jmqs.usim.edu.my/index.php/jmqs/article/view/480Analisis Semantik Leksikal al-Zamakhsharī Terhadap Frasa "Personal Branding" Nabi Mūsā (AS) dalam al-Qur`ān2024-03-01T12:47:22+08:00Rafi Dinilhaqrafidinilhaq3128@gmail.comNovizal Wendrynovizalwendry@uinib.ac.idNandi Pintonandpintoamrizal@uinib.ac.id
This study is prompted by the presence of particular phrases in the Qurʾān that highlight Prophet Mūsā’s distinctive attributes, what can be termed his “personal branding.” These phrases provide a lens through which to compare the Qurʾānic portrayal of Prophet Mūsā’s character with commonly held perceptions. The research aims to uncover the deeper meanings behind these personal branding elements and to encourage reflection on their significance. Employing a qualitative methodology, the inquiry centers on verses narrating Prophet Mūsā’s story. Al-Zamakhsharī’s semantic theory guides the examination of the linguistic features of these phrases, while Peter Montoya’s “The Eight Laws of Personal Branding” helps classify the aspects that shape Prophet Mūsā’s personal brand. The findings indicate that Prophet Mūsā’s personal branding is established through four key dimensions: specialisation, leadership, personality, and differentiation. These facets emerge from eight Qurʾānic descriptors—al-Qawiy, al-Amīn, Mukhlaṣ, Rasūl, Nabiyyā, Ghaḍbān, al-Kalīm, and al-Aʿlā. The study concludes that the narrative verses of the Qurʾān can be analyzed not only for their moral guidance but also for the insights they offer into the personal branding of their central figures.
2024-12-01T00:00:00+08:00Copyright (c) 2024 Rafi Dinilhaq, Novizal Wendry, Nandi Pintohttps://jmqs.usim.edu.my/index.php/jmqs/article/view/485Pengajian Hadis Era Revolusi Industri 4.0: Isu dan Cabaran2024-03-20T16:53:01+08:00Abdulloh Salaehabdulloh@usim.edu.myMuhammad Ammar Shafiq Shahrizalammarshafiq614@raudah.usim.edu.mySiti Nur Balqis Shaharudinnurbalqis@raudah.usim.edu.myNurul Auni Hafifah Md Arifaunihafifah@raudah.usim.edu.myNur Najiyah Muhamad Yusoff najiyahyusoff@raudah.usim.edu.mySyed Najihuddin Syed Hassansyednajihuddin@usim.edu.my
Digital technology advancements have driven the Fourth Industrial Revolution, posing new challenges to various sectors worldwide, including Islamic Studies, particularly in the study of Hadith. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, online Hadith education has become increasingly prominent, as teachers across the country have turned to virtual platforms due to Malaysia's movement control orders. The main issues and challenges that have arisen involve the continuity and preparedness of students in facing these drastic changes. This study aims to identify the issues and challenges encountered in Hadith studies during the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It also seeks to develop a discipline capable of fostering global human capital in line with technological, communication, and scientific advancements, which are now crucial elements in Hadith studies. The research employs a qualitative methodology, with focus group interviews as the primary data collection tool. Despite the potential for global expansion of this technology, the findings reveal that students' ability to adapt to automated teaching methods remains a dominant challenge in Hadith education. Overall, this study provides valuable insights for the government and educational institutions in identifying the best strategies to overcome challenges in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
2024-12-01T00:00:00+08:00Copyright (c) 2024 Abdulloh Salaeh, Muhammad Ammar Shafiq Shahrizal, Siti Nur Balqis Shaharudin, Nurul Auni Hafifah Md Arif, Nur Najiyah Muhamad Yusoff , Syed Najihuddin Syed Hassanhttps://jmqs.usim.edu.my/index.php/jmqs/article/view/493Warna Hijau di dalam al-Quran dan Peranannya Sebagai Elemen Nonfarmakologi Bagi Mengurangkan Kadar Kebimbangan (Anxiety)2024-06-14T15:47:23+08:00Norwardatun Mohamed Razaliwardatun@usim.edu.myNathratul Ayeshah Zulkifliayeshahzul@usim.edu.my
Colour is a fundamental element in human life, and the Qurʾān frequently highlights specific colours to convey distinct meanings and contexts. Among these, green receives particular emphasis, suggesting symbolic and psychological significance. Beyond its scriptural usage, green is recognised in colour therapy as a non-pharmacological means of reducing anxiety. This study aims to identify and analyse Quranic verses that mention the colour green, and to examine their potential connection to its therapeutic application in alleviating anxiety. Employing an inductive method, the researcher compiled and examined the Quranic verses explicitly referencing the colour green. Preliminary findings reveal nine such verses, presenting green as indicative of plant life in this world and symbolising the blessings awaiting believers in the hereafter. From a mental health perspective, research suggests that exposure to green can help reduce anxiety levels. Thus, the Quranic emphasis on green appears to parallel the calming and restorative influence that this colour exerts on human emotions. In essence, the scriptural selection and portrayal of green harmonise with its soothing and comforting effects, offering valuable insights for both spiritual reflection and therapeutic practice.
2024-07-12T11:27:13+08:00Abdoul Karim Tourekarim.toure@usim.edu.myMesbahul Hoquemesbahul@usim.edu.my
This study engages with a crucial aspect of Quranic exegesis that has drawn scholarly attention since the earliest periods of codification through to the contemporary era. Although much debate has revolved around whether certain Quranic terms are genuinely synonymous or simply repetitive, no definitive consensus has emerged. Rather than revisiting the well-trodden argument over the existence or non-existence of synonymy in the Qurʾān, this research focuses on selected words commonly presumed to be synonyms. By closely examining their usage and context, the study demonstrates that these terms do not share identical meanings. Instead, their semantics shift according to their placement within each verse, thereby challenging long-held assumptions and offering fresh insights into the Qur’anic text.
2024-12-01T00:00:00+08:00Copyright (c) 2024 Abdoul Karim Toure, Mesbahul Hoquehttps://jmqs.usim.edu.my/index.php/jmqs/article/view/495Trend Kajian Kaedah Kontemporari Pembelajaran Al-Quran: Soroton Dari Tahun 2019 Hingga 2023 2024-09-12T11:58:44+08:00Nuril Ham Al Hafizah Zaharinurilham.alhafizah@gmail.comSharifah Norshah Bani Syed Bidinsharifahns@unisza.edu.my
This study examines recent developments in approaches to Qur’anic learning, which have evolved in response to contemporary circumstances and educational demands. The findings indicate that hadiths concerning ill omen in horses, women, and houses differ in degrees of authenticity and associated conditions, suggesting that their applicability is context-dependent rather than universal. When presented as commentary, these narrations highlight the need for careful scrutiny to reconcile differences and prevent apparent contradictions. The analysis demonstrates that ill omen and superstition do not reside inherently in the nature of things. Rather, Allah created all things for humanity’s benefit, establishing a baseline of permissibility and utility. Perceiving objects or events as inherently inauspicious reflects an unfounded negative presumption about Allah’s nature, which stands in opposition to Islamic teachings that encourage trust (tawakkul) in Him. Additionally, this study underscores the importance of critically evaluating hadith commentaries that attribute ill omen to external factors—such as an unfavourable neighbour—arguing that such interpretations may not align with the original text’s purpose and context. The emphasis on horses, women, and houses, frequently encountered in daily life, appears intended as a cautionary directive rather than an absolute statement of ill omen. ʿĀʾishah’s astonished reaction to Abu Hurayrah’s narration illustrates the need to consider variant transmissions and understandings of the hadith. Her perspective, supported by scholars like Ibn Qutaybah and Imam al-Ṭaḥāwī, merits significant consideration for a more accurate interpretation. Integrating these insights with contemporary scholarly approaches can lead to a deeper and more nuanced understanding of these hadiths.
2024-09-24T05:36:03+08:00Aya Fekry Abdelazizayafekry@yahoo.comMohamed Abdelaatif Abde-laatimlatif@qu.edu.qa
This study investigates the meaning of the Qur’ānic term “al-Furqān” as it appears in verse 4 of Sūrah Āl ʿImrān. It seeks to answer the core question: How should “al-Furqān” be understood in the phrase “wa anzala al-furqān” (and He sent down the Criterion)? By examining and categorising the interpretations of both early and contemporary Qur’anic exegetes, the study clarifies their approaches according to distinct exegetical methodologies. It then identifies the interpretation most consistent with established principles and evidence. Methodologically, the research employs the inductive approach to collect various interpretations, the analytical approach to examine these positions, and the comparative approach to weigh their merits against one another. The analysis reveals fourteen possible understandings of “al-Furqān.” Of these, six are considered unlikely, while eight are interpreted as complementary rather than contradictory meanings. The study concludes that the term “al-Furqān” is best understood as encompassing this broader spectrum of meanings, rather than being confined to one narrow definition. This integrative perspective is supported by contextual analysis of the verse and by exegetical insights, including comprehensive phrases offered by some scholars that reflect the term’s multifaceted significance. In light of these findings, the study recommends further application of comparative interpretive methodologies to investigate other Qur’anic terms and phrases with disputed meanings, thereby fostering a more nuanced understanding of the divine intent.
2024-09-27T13:49:53+08:00Abdelaziz Idzoubairaz.idzoubair@gmail.com
This study delves into the concept of the Quranic ambiguities and their significance, alongside identifying methods of understanding them. The researcher adopted an inductive-analytical approach, tracing what has been written about the Quranic problem and Asbab al-Nuzul, as well as some of the verses that posed challenges and the opinions of scholars and commentators regarding them, examining and analysing them. The study concluded several findings, including that Quranic ambiguities refer to Quranic verses whose meanings are unclear or ambiguous to some people, which is relative because what may be unclear to some is clear to others. Additionally, ignorance of the Asbab al-Nuzul contributes to doubts and misunderstandings. Through the applied examples studied, it became evident that Asbab al-Nuzul is one of the most important means of resolving Quranic ambiguities.
2024-10-01T18:50:08+08:00Zunaidah Mohd Marzukizunaidah@iium.edu.my
The book of Takmīlat Fatḥ al-Mulhim bi Sharḥ Ṣaḥīḥ al-Imām Muslim by Shaykh Muhammad Taqī al-ʿUthmānī is considered one of the most important commentaries on Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, particularly in the Indian subcontinent. It is a continuation of the commentary on Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Fatḥ al-Mulhim, by Shaykh Shabīr Aḥmad al-ʿUthmānī, which remained unfinished after his death. Shaykh Muhammad Taqī al-ʿUthmānī has adopted his own unique methodology in composing and explaining the work, distinguishing Takmilah Fath al-Mulhim from Fath al-Mulhim in several respects, including his articulation of the methodology that he pointed in the introduction of the book in ten key points, without delving into details. One notable aspect of this is his focus on clarifying and discussing the evidence in both the chain of transmission (sanad) and the textual content (matn). This study examines this specific methodology, the attention given to clarifying the evidence in fiqh issues, through a methodological and analytical study of the Hadith commentary on financial transactions in Takmilah Fath al-Mulhim, focusing solely on the textual content due to the research scope. The researcher employed the inductive method to explore the Hadiths on financial transactions in the book and its commentary, followed by the analytical method to analyse and clarify the methodology of evidential clarity in fiqh issues in the financial transaction Hadiths according to the author. To achieve the objective, the study is presented in two sections. First, the explanation of evidential reasoning. Second, the explanation of evidential preference (tarjīḥ). The study concluded with four significant findings. First, the author's emphasis on clarifying the contextual meaning of the Hadith which becomes one of his distinguishing features, serving as a method for resolving conflicting Hadith meanings; Second, his frequent elaborating on Hanafi evidences when they differ from the majority opinion; Third, his extensive citing scholars' views from fiqh and Hadith commentaries with proper attribution, demonstrating his academic integrity; Fourth, his presenting the evidences and their differences including providing preferences with varying methodologies and relevant factors in his analysis.
2024-10-02T03:53:12+08:00Ali Abdallah Ahmad Al-Hreratdr.alihorerat@muath.edu.jo
The study aimed to explain the methods and role of elites in confronting Prophets’ calls in the Holy Quran, as well as the rhetorical connotations they contained. It also aimed to identify and address these methods, and to clarify the extent of their influence on the call. The researcher employed the inductive method to track these methods, and the deductive method to infer the meanings inherent in the word's use, the Quranic structure, the Prophets’ story, and the rhetorical features. The study elucidated the strategies employed by Elites in response to the call, illustrating them through the biographies and stories of prophets. This provided preachers with a framework to follow and emulate, guiding them in addressing the call’s consequences and responsibilities, and in promoting positive values within societies that steer clear of despair and hopelessness. The study concluded with a series of significant findings, the most significant of which was that the Holy Qur'an contains a variety of elite methods, including the use of vocabulary and structures. These methods demonstrate the extent of elite influence in achieving a surface aversion to the call and its failure to achieve its true goal, as well as the wisdom of the prophets in rejecting these methods in order to uphold the laws of the struggle between good and evil.
2024-12-01T00:00:00+08:00Copyright (c) 2024 Ali Abdallah Ahmad Al-Hrerathttps://jmqs.usim.edu.my/index.php/jmqs/article/view/503Implementasi Surah al-Hujurat Bagi Membendung Konflik dan Melestarikan Hubungan Baik di Tempat Kerja2024-10-02T15:04:50+08:00Yasir Ramleeyasir.ramlee@ums.edu.my
Sustaining positive relationships in the workplace is a crucial challenge that demands careful consideration, as each employee has personal goals that may differ from those of their colleagues, potentially leading to conflicts. Uncontrolled conflicts resulting from strained relationships can have a clear negative impact on performance and work quality. Thus, well-defined guidelines are essential for enhancing workplace interactions and ensuring that all employees are aware of the ethical standards that must be upheld during their duties. This paper examines the implementation of various strategies in the workplace to foster and maintain positive relationships, drawing upon the interpretation of selected verses from Surah al-Hujurat. The guidelines outlined in this Surah emphasise the importance of respecting authority, adhering to ethical communication practices, promoting a culture of cooperation and self-reflection, and valuing diversity in character. By internalising these principles, the workplace can evolve into a more positive and productive environment, underpinned by mutual understanding and strong collaboration among employees.
2024-12-01T00:00:00+08:00Copyright (c) 2024 Yasir Ramleehttps://jmqs.usim.edu.my/index.php/jmqs/article/view/511Integriti Menurut Perspektif Wahyu: Kajian Peranannya dalam Pembangunan Lestari Islam2024-12-04T12:46:28+08:00Siti Sarah Izhamsarahizham@uitm.edu.myNoor Aznaim Abd Latif aznaim@uitm.edu.mySiti Nor Amira Mohamadsitinoramira@uitm.edu.myShahirah Saidshahirah4572@uitm.edu.my
Islam is a holistic religion that integrates all aspects of life, including worship, adherence to halal and haram principles, interpersonal relationships, and the human connection with nature.
