الملخص

Imam Makki who died in the fifth century of Hijrah is considered one of the prominent scholars of Arabic phonetics. This is clearly demonstrated in his studies of Arabic phonics and its characters; individually and collectively, his interpretation and explanation, his discussions and critical views of them. His al-Ri'ayah marks the great shift and accomplishment in the study of Arabic phonetics. Thus, this articles focuses on the contributions of Imam Makki in al-Ri'ayah from the perspectives of the methods of pronouncing Arabic letters and its relation with modern phonetics, the influence Arabic letters and its relation with modern phonetics, the influence and reflections of the Arabic letters, and criticism on aspects relating to correct pronunciation of the letters.
