This paper addresses an important issue in Islamic Jurisprudence (fiqh), that is, the challenges of dealing with modern development in fiqh-issues based on the Quranic perspective. In particular, this paper focuses only on the chapters relating to hygiene and fasting. In this modern age, there are many new cases that require new interpretations and rulings based on the current situations and circumstances. This could be done through analyzing and approaching both the Quran and the principles used in Islamic Jurisprudence. The application of this method is then succinctly demonstrated in this paper through selected examples of dry cleaning of clothes and using astronomical calculations to determine the beginning and end of fasting period.
