Qur’anic narratives represent one of the most expressive domains of Qur’anic discourse, distinguished by their refined artistic and semantic structure, which relies on sophisticated textual mechanisms that contribute to meaning construction and the fulfilment of Divine guidance. Among these mechanisms is Detail after Summarization (al-tafṣīl baʿda al-ijmāl), which stands as one of the most significant semantic relations influencing textual coherence within Qur’anic stories. This study aims to analyze the mechanism of Detail after Summarization in Qur’anic narratives, clarify its function in enhancing semantic coherence and the interconnectedness of meanings, and highlight the distinctiveness of its Qur’anic application in comparison with literary and rhetorical conceptions of narrative. It also seeks to reveal how this mechanism contributes to conveying the theological and pedagogical message through a systematic progression from summarization to detail. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical method. It begins by presenting the relevant theoretical concepts, including the notion of text, textual coherence and its mechanisms, and the concept of Detail after Summarization. It then proceeds to an applied analysis of selected Qur’anic narrative models particularly the stories of Abraham, Noah, Hud, and Ṣāliḥ (peace be upon them) as presented in Sūrat al-Shuʿarāʾ. The study concludes that Detail after Summarization is a central mechanism for achieving semantic coherence in Qur’anic narratives and constitutes a fundamental pillar in constructing meaning. It further finds that this mechanism in the Qur’an is not merely a narrative device but a theological and pedagogical tool that directs the reader toward points of reflection and moral insight. In light of these findings, the study recommends incorporating the study of textual coherence mechanisms into Qur’anic and linguistic curricula, encouraging comparative research between coherence mechanisms in Qur’anic narratives and literary texts, and expanding the applied analysis to include additional Qur’anic stories. The research contributes a significant scholarly addition by presenting an in-depth textual-semantic examination of Detail after Summarization, addressing a research gap concerning the application of text-linguistic theories specifically to Qur’anic narratives, and highlighting the rhetorical precision through which this mechanism shapes meaning and reinforces the structure of Qur’anic storytelling.
